The Good Life Orphanage

Having fully recovered from our busy break in Mombasa we can introduce the trustees of the charity in Mombasa.

David Kadori our project manager on Mikoroshoni Primary School has very kindly accepted our invitation to be a trustee in our new project. David is a very honest, hardworking and talented young architect, he liaises with the local planning departments which is a godsend as the red tape in Kenya is unbelievable.

We met Nico seven years ago in Mombasa, he was introduced to us as a taxi driver who went to mass daily. We have become very good friends over this period, Mary was godmother to Nico & Christines’ new baby girl last month, they called her Mary. Nico is a treasure; he is very trustworthy and looks after our best interests at all times so we were delighted when he became a trustee also. Without David & Nico’s help with the building of Mikoroshoni Primary School we would not have succeeded.

Our new addition to the team is Peter Gathungu. Peter is a rep for First Choice holidays, he is based in Sun & Sands Hotel which is only about two miles from our orphanage. He is a fountain of knowledge about the area and the different businesses we can approach to assist in the smooth running of the project. We are very pleased that he has chosen our charity.

Held a competition Wednesday. Three club event. £1 for putter. £2 for iron. £3 for any extra club. Made about £200 after prizes
Followed by Auction sweep that evening when all the Captains day players were sold.
Also a meal voucher sold after being donated by the Captain. 1/4 sweep money for Orphanage…rest divided between buyers of first 10 players on Captains day..Winner got £500..down to 10th …got £50
Also had a betting book…nobody backed the winner!!!!!!! made £700 on that
Total raised £1904.00.
