Well they may have came earlier than normal but the visit by our own Three Wise Men was eagerly anticipated. Both the children and staff were so excited at the planned visit of their Blessed Fathers, Eamon O’Malley, Tim Kilroe & Sean Keogh arrived on the 18th November 2010 for what was to be amazing few days. After an overnight flight from Manchester, they were met at the airport and began the 1st instalment of Kev’s Tours !!
The Three Wise Men & Their Tour Guide
Into Shanzu Village to see Mikoroshoni Primary School which was rebuilt in September 2005 by Kevin & a group of builders from the UK & Ireland, the school still looks brilliant and Joshua made everyone very welcome. Then onto Mama Rachel’s little mud house, she had leprosy and was originally sent to the outskirts of the village but now is a minor celebrity due to the number of Mzungu visitors she receives. It was a baptism of fire for our visitors, a short break for lunch then onto The Good Life Orphanage.
Well they could never have imagined the welcome, all the children were waiting patiently dressed in their Sunday best, the Mothers & Aunties along with Jackie & David were so happy to meet these very generous and compassionate people. After the initial introductions the children chatted non-stop and neither Eamon, Tim or Sean knew who was who as there were so many little arms reaching out to be picked up. Each child made a beeline for their namesakes, Eamon was surrounded by the children from O’Malley House and met his namesake Eamon.

Eamon meets Eamon

The children from both Kilroe & Keogh House brought Tim & Sean into their houses to show them just what a difference their support and generosity has made to these lives. It was a very emotional time for us all including Kevin & myself. After a grand tour of the houses, farm and school next door, we dropped them off at the hotel for a well deserved shower, it had been a long tiring day !!

Day 2, up & about 1st thing, back out to the GLO for tree planting and after Jackie had signed in all the wonderful toys and gifts, Eamon, Tim & Sean set about handing toys out to each house, the children were amazed at all the different toys, games and Football shirts. Lots of smiles, laughs and more important a deep respect for the three “Blessed Fathers”. The children from O’Malley, Kilroe & Keogh Houses regard Eamon, Tim & Sean as their “Fathers”, without their help, guidance & support from the start of the project the children would not have been given this chance and many would never have survived without coming to the GLO. Its was a fantastic time for everyone involved and we look forward to the next visit.
