On a cold & windy September morning all the very brave cub scout leaders and children from 8th Donegal Carndonagh Group took part in a sponsored walk. The proceeds of the walk are divided between The Good life Orphanage & Carndonagh Hospice.
We feel very honoured that Frances McGonigle, The Scout Leaders and all cubs scout children choose our charity and after seeing our blog post on the problems with Jiggers it was decided that the money will be spent buying shoes for the children as a means assist eradicating Jiggers. Hopefully if we can negotiate some discount from Bata Shoes in Mombasa we should be able to buy 45 pairs of good quality, hard wearing school shoes and a tin of shoes polish & small brush, the children will also wear these shoes to Church on Sundays. This is our first job to do in January as the prices of everything including shoes increase in the run up to Christmas.
Mary Keogh, one of our GLO Committee members, picked up the cheque on our behalf, we will have a good look tomorrow on Google Earth at the GLO just how far this support has come and say a massive Asante Sana from everyone!!!

How lovely to see children helping other, less fortunate children. Jiggers is dreadful, as I saw for myself and shoes will be a great help.
