Seeing a large bus pull up at the GLO made the children very excited. A group of students from St Mary’s Teacher Training College were trying to visit a nearby orphanage but could not gain access so decided to visit our project instead. These young students have formed a volunteers club within the college and work closely with charity projects in Bura, Taita, their hometown.
They were very surprised with set up at The GLO, the adjoining Shamba and our new St Bernadette & St Mary’s School. They could not hide their desire to join us as volunteers and even working with this orphanage. The visit lasted for over two hours, they left with a promise to return and establish links between their volunteer club and our project.
As well as spending time playing with the children, they also donated washing detergent, toothpaste, cooking oil, maize floor, clothes, among other things which were gratefully received by Madam Mercy & Madam Dorothy. We look forward to hearing from them in the near future as having volunteers from within Kenya is a very important part of our children’s development as learning about life outside the walls of the GLO will help them when they exit the project.
Now there’s a turn up for the books – and an important one. Its good to know that the GLO is at last on the radar of the local Kenyan people. Once the locals get involved who knows what might happen…….hummmm!
It was such a good coincidence. After a long journey to such a wonderful environment. Anyway Good Life Orphanage in a great institution where children grow both spiritually and physically. We were surprised with the good set up of the orphanage. Anyway Big ups to the founder and may God bless him together with the well wishers.
it has been a wonderful experience working with GLO institution and also their adjoining school. as a volunteer i have come first hand with the administration, the friendly and motherly staff. seeing children this favored and loved despite their background almost brought me to tears God bless you abundantly as you endeavor to make life better.
