This year I was lucky enough to get a place in the London Marathon – a great chance to run my first marathon. My wife, Mary, and I went down for the weekend and it proved to be a great experience for both the runners and the spectators. We stayed at St.Katherine’s Foundation in Limehouse – it was a lovely place to stay – friendly and peaceful with a lovely chapel.

On the day, the weather was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. We raised sponsorship money for the GLO from work and school colleagues, from friends and family and mainly from Guardian Angels’ parish in Bury. The total raised was an amazing £1839! I can only say a massive thank you to everyone who sponsored and supported me – especially to Mary for being there at the finish and for putting up with the moaning and whingeing when I was training through the winter. Keep up the fantastic work in Kikambala. Best wishes, Andrew.
