Since the inception of our project in 2007, Bernie and Austin McKenna have been great supporters of our charity. Bernie’s latest fundraiser was held after mass on Sunday 1st June at St Peter’s R.C Church in Middleton with the blessing of the Parish Priest Fr Kieren. The parish hall was a sight to behold with fresh cakes, a jewellery stand and copious amount of wine in the raffle.

Cakes Galore

It was very much a family affiar with Austin frying the bacon and sausages under the watchful eye of their daughter Clare. Also on-hand to help was grandson Isham our MC for the day, niece Mairead the official tea maker and good friend Margaret McDermott.

Claire & Austin

Following a short talk introuducing The Good Life Orphanage to the congregation at Mass, the place was a hive of activity with the cake selling, ticket selling and the Bacon Butties & Tea. People were very interested in finding out more information about the orphanage and everyone was very generous. Three people are now sponsoring children at The GLO after they saw what an impact the orphanage is making in the chidlren’s lives.

Enjoying the day

Asham doing the raffle

Following the draw for the raffle tickets, people settled down to enjoy their newly bought cakes and teas, it was a great opportunity to spread The GLO Word whilst enjoying the freshly made food. There were a few mishaps with the boiler but all in all Mairead & Margaret managed to save the day.

Don't give up the day job

Bernie at the helm

We were amazed that over £1500 was raised including a generous donation from Bernie & Austin, this coffee morning was held in memory of Winnie Smith, a very close friend of the McKenna Family who died last year aged 92 years old. All the proceeds of this morning will go direct to our project and we appreciate the continued support of The McKenna Family.
