We are so lucky to have great friends who have supported us from Day 1 such as Mike & Lyn Watson. Over the years they have both done various fund raising activities for The GLO, sponsor John the Baptist and now Mike has done The Great Manchester Swim . We have so much respect for their dedication to train during the terrible Spring & Summer we have had so far including dry runs at Elton Reservoir a far cry from Sydney Harbour where Mike first got the idea to take part in The Great Manchester Swim, here is his account of yesterday’s feat….
Sunday 1st July 2012
The great day finally arrived and we set off for Salford Quays at 07.30 am as I was swimming in the first wave at 09.00am. The weather forecast was rather inaccurate and it was cold and wet, in fact the water temperature at 16.6C was warmer than the air temperature. Lyn was my official photographer and she was colder and wetter than me!
The swim went well and I completed the 1 mile in a respectable time of 37.34 mins.
As I type this the total raised stands at £501 and with gift aid that will be over £600. I would like to thank all those who have sponsored me so generously.
Donations can still be made via my Just Giving page.
Thank you very much all our supporters for the great work your doing( supporting the Good life Orphanage).May the living God who sees in your hearts, for what your doing to the children at Glo, Bless you and give your more strength to keep on the good work your doing.
Asante sana.
